Equine-assisted leadership development with Kia Hildén is an experiential process in which the horse’s presence, the calm of the environment, and Kia’s ESMH method combine to create deep insight and a clearer, more present leadership style. Through reflection and practical exercises, the essence of leadership is revealed beyond roles and titles. A powerful format for leadership teams and project managers who want to develop sustainable leadership, stronger collaboration, and improved results.
Leadership development at Tjauls Farm is based on an experiential approach, with theory, reflection, and practical exercises woven together. The horse plays a central role in the process as a co-creating partner.
As herd and prey animals, horses are highly sensitive to human behaviour, body language, intention, and emotional state. They do not respond to words, titles, or roles, but to what is genuinely present in the moment. This makes them clear, honest, and non-judgmental mirrors of leadership in practice.
The work is done on the ground, without riding, and is tailored to the group’s needs. Participants have the opportunity to observe, reflect, and experience the difference between leading, following, and collaborating – first without the horse and then, for those who wish, together with the horse.
Many leaders operate in a fast-paced environment with a high and constantly increasing cognitive load. This leadership development programme, therefore, draws on current knowledge of stress, self-regulation, and behavioural patterns. In the presence of the horse, conditions are created to lower stress levels, deepen breathing, and support a more balanced and attuned leadership style.
Through reflection, dialogue, and personal experience, participants gain insight into how they lead. The aim is to strengthen the ability to lead oneself, in order to lead others in a more sustainable, clear, and human way.
For leadership teams within organisations that want to develop more conscious, sustainable, and human leadership. The programme is suited to organisations that recognise the connection between leadership, employee wellbeing, and long-term results.
By working with presence, behaviour, and self-leadership, the leadership team gains a deeper understanding of how they influence organisational culture, motivation, and performance. The aim is to strengthen leaders’ ability to create trust, clarity, and engagement, thereby unlocking the potential of both individuals and teams.
For project managers working in complex environments, often without formal authority. The programme increases awareness of communication, boundary-setting, and self-leadership, and provides tools to maintain calm, clarity, and direction under pressure.
Morning and afternoon refreshments, as well as lunch, are included. Riding is not part of the programme and cannot be added.
If you have a horse allergy, participation may still be possible, as the practical exercises do not require physical contact with the horse. You are responsible for assessing whether participation is suitable for you.
Comfortable outdoor clothing is recommended, as parts of the programme take place outdoors or in unheated spaces.
The interaction with the horse may evoke emotions and insights. Kia is trained, experienced, and bound by confidentiality, creating a safe and supportive framework for the process.
