Reconnect with Yourself

Healing with Horse

Ground yourself, quiet your mind, and replenish your energy. With no demands, healing with a horse is for those who long for recovery, presence, and gentle healing. In the quiet companionship of the horse, you are supported in releasing tension, reconnecting with yourself, and restoring balance.

Healing with Horses

Healing is an ancient recovery method, practised in cultures worldwide for thousands of years. It helps the body regain balance, release stored tension, and stimulate self-healing – physically, emotionally, and energetically.

When the horse participates in the session, the energy is amplified. Many people experience healing with a horse as more profound and powerful.

Today, healing is recognised as a form of rehabilitative wellness support. Research suggests it can be an effective complement to recovery from prolonged stress, trauma, and mental health challenges.

What is healing?

The word healing means to make whole. It is a gentle and non-invasive treatment that activates the body’s natural healing systems. Through light touch and working with the body’s energy flow, both physical and emotional blockages can be released. Healing supports the body’s natural processes and replenishes energy reserves. It is a holistic treatment approach based on the understanding that body and soul form a unified whole.

Healing may relieve:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Stress and exhaustion
  • Physical tension and pain
  • Mental or emotional trauma
  • Fatigue and low mood

The presence of the horse enhances the experience

Horses have a unique ability to affect humans on a deep level, simply through their presence. They are highly sensitive to subtle signals and can help us relax, become more grounded in our bodies, and reconnect with our inner selves.

When the horse participates in the healing session, many clients find the energy stronger, the flow deeper, and the connection to their body more tangible. Those who have previously received healing often describe the experience as “more powerful” when the horse is involved.

What happens during a session?

You are in a calm and peaceful environment, close to the horse, sometimes in the stable, other times in a paddock. You may lie down or sit comfortably while the healing takes place. Healing is given through light touch or without physical contact, depending on what feels best for you.

The session is tailored to what you need. The horse moves freely or stands nearby, participating in its own way. Often, it will come close, show curiosity, or place its muzzle exactly where it’s needed. Many describe these moments as deeply healing and stilling.

What happens in the body?

Unlike humans, horses naturally maintain what science refers to as a coherent heart rhythm — a state where the heartbeat is in sync with other body systems. In humans, this coherence appears during moments of love, gratitude, or joy. Being near a horse allows us to “train” our own heart coherence — to connect with what we truly feel in our hearts.

Research has shown many physiological benefits from interacting with horses: reduced blood pressure, increased beta-endorphins (natural pain relievers), lower stress levels, and decreased feelings of anger, tension, and anxiety. The HeartMath Institute has even shown that heart coherence is contagious, making it possible for us to experience physical healing simply by being near a horse.

Healing also stimulates the release of the body’s own “feel-good” hormones, such as oxytocin and endorphins. It lowers stress levels, improves circulation, and balances the body’s energy field. People often report feeling warm, relieved, emotionally touched, or deeply relaxed afterwards.

Old emotions or memories may rise to the surface, but always at a pace your body is ready for. Healing is gentle yet powerful, and many describe it as a feeling of “coming home to themselves”.
